The Dental Biller is responsible for managing all aspects of dental insurance billing, claims processing, and accounts receivable. This role ensures accurate and timely submission of claims, follows up on outstanding balances, and works closely with patients, insurance companies, and the dental team to maximize reimbursement and maintain financial efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Submit accurate dental insurance claims (electronic and paper) in a timely manner
  • Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments correctly
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, appeals, and pre-authorizations
  • Generate and review accounts receivable (AR) reports regularly
  • Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and insurance regulations
  • Maintain accurate patient billing records in practice management software
  • Collaborate with front office and clinical staff to ensure proper documentation and coding

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of dental billing experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of dental insurance plans (PPO, HMO, Medicaid, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CDT coding and dental terminology
  • Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in billing systems
  • Time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Customer service skills for patient interactions

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
